Your back could be bothering you for several different reasons. Currently we spend too much time bent over our computers and slouched in front of our televisions; which certainly is not a healthy situation for our backs. You need to exercise, just be careful not to injure your back.

Back pain is typically not associated with electronic devices, yet your mobile phone may be why you are experiencing your discomfort. Young people are also susceptible to these types of problems because they use this electronic equipment much more than older people do. We are not talking about directly harming your back. It is the manner in which we hold the gadgets or use them which causes the back issues. What happens is we will hold a mobile phone in a certain way for a prolonged period of time, or perhaps lean over our laptop while communicating with other people which causes the back problem. Although most people will not understand that their use of electronic devices is causing their back problems, over time, it is easy to see that our habitual use of certain devices is causing our difficulties. One real common cause of back pain is a spinal fracture. Osteoporosis – a reduction of your bone mass – weakens your bones and can lead to spinal fractures. Women are particularly prone to this, but both men and women are at risk for this as they age. As the bones get weaker, it becomes much easier for them to become damaged. An extreme case is when the bones weaken and collapse, which can cause the spine to become deformed. Of course, your health care provider can give you medication for your pain. This doesn’t address the root problem, however. Surgery may become necessary in order to keep the fractured bones stationary. So, people that have a car accident, even if it is small, will still injure their back occasionally. Contact sports such as football can also cause injuries to the spine. Exercises that strengthen your back, when done in the right way, can actually help you prevent injuries. However, it’s also easy to injure the back doing certain exercises. By maintaining the right form, and using enough weights to sustain your workout, you can protect your back in this manner.

There are a lot of other diseases and illnesses that have back pain in their list of side effects. Diabetes is a disease that can cause pain and discomfort in a number of areas, including the back. One reason for this is that diabetes affects the immune system and causes a variety of nerve disorders. Neuropathy can show up in many different parts of the body and cause pain, including in the back. If you have diabetes, it’s very important to control your blood glucose, and doing this can help avoid this type of neuropathy, or nerve pain. Carrying around extra weight is not only bad for your health, as we’ve mentioned above in this report, but it is often a detriment to keeping your diabetes under control.

It isn’t always possible for a doctor to find the root cause of every case of back pain. There are just too many variables. The reason may be simple. You may have picked up a heavy object and used your back for leverage instead of your legs. But sometimes, back pain can strike out of nowhere and it’s not easy to trace back to the root cause.
